Three Men Plead Guilty and are Sentenced in
Connection with a Double Homicide and Feticide in Lacombe

COVINGTON—District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, District Judge Scott Gardner sentenced three men for their roles in a double homicide and feticide that occurred in Lacombe in 2020. In January of this year, Peter Reimonenq pled guilty to the shooting and was sentenced to 80 years in prison.

After listening to statements by the Assistant District Attorney, defense counsel for all three defendants, family members of the victims, the mother of defendant Shannon Amos and Amos himself, Judge Gardner sentenced the defendants as follows:

Shannon Amos, age 22 of Lacombe, Louisiana pled guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice and one count of accessory after the fact. Amos had disposed of the murder weapon which was never recovered, and later advised Reimonenq where it could be found. He also drove the vehicle that was used to flee the scene and when police recovered it, it was evident the vehicle had been wiped clean. Judge Gardner sentenced him to 18 years in prison.

Christopher Roberts and Mikayl Young, both age 22 of Lacombe, picked up Reimonenq and Amos in a vehicle to bring them to the location where the homicide occurred.  Following the homicide, both defendants fled.  Law enforcement arrested Young a week later after an extensive search to locate him. Roberts and Young each pled guilty to one count of accessory after the fact and one count of failure to seek assistance resulting in death. Roberts was sentenced to 3 years of probation. Young was sentenced to 4 years in prison.

On July 18, 2020, St. Tammany Parish deputies began a homicide investigation after a report of a vehicle containing two deceased individuals, who had suffered gunshot wounds, were discovered in the area of Bremerman Road in Lacombe. The victims were a young man and his pregnant girlfriend.

The shooting took place during a drug transaction. During their initial interviews with police, Amos and Reimonenq blamed the other for pulling the trigger. Ballistics evidence revealed a single shooter and all forensic evidence indicated Reimonenq was the one to pull the trigger.

In an impact statement, the grandmother of the female victim said, “I pray every day for everyone involved, even these young men — who I ask God to have mercy on.”

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant District Attorneys Elizabeth Authement and Blake Peters prosecuted the case.
