COVINGTON—Laron S. Bester, 50, of Slidell, pled guilty Monday (March 7) to two counts of forcible rape, indecent behavior with a juvenile, and sexual battery for incidents in 2014 involving a girl who was then 15 years old. He faces between five and 12 years in prison when he is sentenced April 27.

District Judge Raymond Childress ordered a pre-sentencing investigation before the hearing next month.

An alert neighbor noticed Bester loitering on a bike at the teenager’s house and called the mother. The mother called the grandmother, who went to the house and discovered that someone had escaped through a window. The victim then revealed that Bester, a friend of the family, came to the house, took her clothes off, and began sexually assaulting her, despite her pleas for him to stop. The victim also told authorities that Bester had been inappropriate on other occasions.

Bester was later arrested on a warrant from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant District Attorney Joey Oubre handled the case.
