COVINGTON—District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that a St. Tammany Parish jury found Latroy O. Simmons, 26, of Slidell, guilty Friday (Sept. 8) of molestation of a juvenile. He faces 25 to 99 years when sentenced Nov. 2 by District Judge Reginald Badeaux.

Simmons was staying with the family of an 8-year-old girl in 2014, when he molested her. The victim was asleep one night when she was awakened to Simmons, grabbing her legs. He continued touching her inappropriately until a noise startled him, and the victim ran into the bathroom. After suffering emotional problems and struggling in school for two years afterwards, the girl opened up and disclosed the incident to her mother, who called the police.

The Slidell Police Department investigated the case. Assistant District Attorneys Blair Alford and Luke Lancaster prosecuted it.
