Ponchatoula Man Indicted For Murder

District Attorney Collin Sims reports that on April 16, 2025, a St. Tammany Parish grand jury indicted 20-year-old Osmer Noel Villalta-Lopez for second degree murder and obstruction of justice relating to the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Yelson Hernan Banegas-Garcia on December 28, 2024, in Lacombe. Detective Katie Darby with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office headed the investigation. Assistant District Attorney Ronnie Gracianette presented the case to the grand jury.
