COVINGTON—District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that Lloyd Joseph Weysham, 62, of Kiln, Mississippi, pleaded guilty Wednesday (March 14) to sexual battery of a victim under 13. District Judge Peter Garcia sentenced Weysham to 50 years in prison.

The victim, an 8-year-old girl, had been left in Weysham’s care in a Slidell home in June last year, when he touched her inappropriately and forced her to perform oral sex on him. The victim’s older sister, who had pretended to be sleeping in a separate bed, witnessed the crime and called an adult family member. The family member returned to the house and contacted police. The defendant admitted to the crime in a recorded statement to police.

The sentencing range for sexual battery of a victim under 13 is from 25 to 99 years in prison. Weysham must serve the first 25 years of the 50-year sentence before he is eligible for parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant District Attorney Blair Alford prosecuted it.
