Jury Returns Guilty Verdict in Drug Distribution Case

February 7, 2025

District Attorney Collin Sims reports that on February 4, 2025, a Washington Parish jury found 48-year-old Kendrick Lampley of Bogalusa guilty on two counts of distribution of cocaine.  Assistant District Attorneys Le’Anne Malnar and Christina Fisher presented the case to the jury with Judge William H. Burris presiding over the trial.  Sargeant Tyler Lindsey with the Bogalusa Police Department headed the investigation.

In December of 2022, detectives with the Bogalusa Violent Crimes Task Force received information that “Kendrick Lampley” was distributing drugs in the Bogalusa community.  In response, the detectives initiated an investigation focused on Lampley.  During the investigation, detectives videotaped Lampley distributing cocaine at a Bogalusa apartment complex on two separate occasions.  A warrant for his arrest was obtained and he was located and arrested in September of 2023.

Judge Burris set Lampley’s sentencing for March 18, 2025.  A conviction for distribution of cocaine usually carries a sentence of one to ten years in prison.  However, due to Lampley’s prior criminal history, the law permits Lampley to be sentenced to a prison term longer than 10 years.  Lampley’s criminal history reflects prior convictions for first degree robbery, attempted simple robbery, attempted simple burglary, obstruction of justice, resisting an officer with force or violence, distribution of an imitation controlled dangerous substance, possession of drugs in a penal institution, possession of heroin, possession of hydrocodone and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
