Heroes Who Cook is the primary annual fundraiser for Hope House, a local nonprofit that provides hope, healing and justice for victims of child abuse on the Northshore.
The Heroes Who Cook event, pairs local "celebrities" (community leaders) with local restaurants in a competition to raise money for Hope House. Our Hero is District Attorney, Collin Sims. During the event, there is a food tasting vote and the team with the best dish wins! We've teamed this year again with TAVI Restaurant.
The team with the highest fundraising total will win the award for "Most Money Raised." Please help us achieve that goal.
You won't want to miss this year's gala on the rooftop of the Justice Center parking garage in Covington on Sunday Nov. 3rd! This will be yet another unforgettable evening of gourmet small plate tastings prepared by more than a dozen teams; wine, beer and cocktails; live music; and an incredible silent auction! This year's auction highlights are a new 4x4 EVolution golf cart donated by Blackwell's Outdoor and a ONE of a KIND custom (Hope House colors and logo!) electric Gibson, Les Paul STYLE guitar. This piece was crafted by Phillip Bates, of Flarda Guitars in Tampa Florida. He is a dedicated supporter of the Hope House. View all auction items by clicking here.
D.A. Sims has teamed up this year with TAVI Restaurant!
Tavi is an Israeli restaurant serving made-to-order pita from a wood-fired oven, elaborately finished hummus plates, and small and large plates drawing from the same modern Israeli inspiration as its sister restaurant, Shaya.
The name Tavi is inspired by the Hebrew word meaning “good or beloved” and that’s what Tavi aims to deliver to the Covington community. Executive Chef Fariz Choumali leads the kitchen and brings his Lebanese Roots to life through staples from the Shaya menu plus new dishes. The menu will highlight an array of small plates, hummus, sandwiches, and slow-roasted meats.
