On Monday, October 28, District Attorney J. Collin Sims, D.A. for Washington and St. Tammany Parishes, had the privilege of speaking to students at Northshore Charter School in Bogalusa about Red Ribbon Week. It is celebrated annually each October and highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year.
The D.A. educated the students on the history of Red Ribbon Week and provided them facts surrounding drug related crimes in our community, placing particular emphasis on the dangers of drugs like fentanyl. He ended the session by opening the floor to questions. The students were extremely engaged and receptive to the message.
