Bogalusa Woman Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison After Pleading Guilty to Production of Child Pornography and Other Sex Related Charges
August 20, 2024
District Attorney Collin Sims reports that 51-year-old Angela Dawn Holloway Austin of Bogalusa was recently sentenced to twenty-five (25) years in prison without parole after she pled guilty to a variety of sex related charges filed by the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office against her in both St. Tammany and Washington Parishes. Following the completion of her prison sentence, Austin will be required to register as a convicted sex offender for the remainder of her life. Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Authement was in charge of both prosecutions.
In 2019, the Bogalusa Police Department received a complaint from a woman that Brandon Applewhite was threatening to disseminate nude images of her. During the course of investigating that complaint, detectives with Bogalusa PD seized Applewhite’s cellular phone. Forensic analysis of the phone revealed it contained a large number of disturbing images unrelated to the original complaint being investigated. Among the images were several which focused on the genitals of three nude boys who all appeared to be under the age of six. Also found in the phone were numerous test messages between Applewhite and Austin, who authorities learned were in an intimate relationship. In a text message exchange connected to the illicit photographs, Austin mentioned to Applewhite she was at her Bogalusa residence babysitting three young boys. In reply, Applewhite encouraged Austin to take pornographic photographs of the boys and send them to him and she complied. Simultaneously, Applewhite sent nude images of himself to Austin.
Further analysis of Applewhite’s phone uncovered several obscene videos. In the videos, Austin can be seen touching a dog in a sexual manner and enticing the dog to do the same to her. During a series of text messages between Austin and Applewhite, Austin complained that despite her best efforts, the dog wasn’t “cooperating” with her very well.
Authorities also found in Applewhite’s cell phone nude images of an elderly woman being touched inappropriately. Text messages between Applewhite and Austin indicated Austin, who worked at a St. Tammany Parish nursing home, agreed to send Applewhite the illicit photographs of the woman who was a resident at the nursing home.
On July 22, 2024, Austin pled guilty in the Washington Parish case to four counts of Production of child pornography and one count of Sexual abuse of an animal. Judge Ellen Creel accepted her guilty plea and sentenced her to 25 years in prison without parole on each of the Production of child pornography charges and 5 years in prison on the charge of Sexual abuse of an animal. Judge Creel ordered the sentences to run concurrently with each other.
On August 16, 2024, Austin pled guilty in the St. Tammany case to Sexual battery and Molestation of a person with a physical or mental disability. Judge Scott Gardner accepted her guilty plea and immediately sentenced her on each charge to 25 years in prison without parole. Judge Gardner ordered the sentences to run concurrently with each other.
