St. Tammany Parish Grand Jury Returns Indictment in Fatal Hit-and-run

October 28, 2025

District Attorney Collin Sims reports that on October 22, 2025, a St. Tammany Parish grand jury indicted 40-year-old Connie Estes of Slidell, on charges of Hit-and-run driving resulting in death and Obstruction of justice.  The charges relate to the death of 6-year-old Jeremiah Ramirez on August 13, 2025.  Detective Katie Robbins with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office headed the investigation.  Assistant District Attorney Doug Freese, Chief of the Criminal Division, and Assistant District Attorney Caroline Barkerding presented the case to the grand jury. Estes is set for arraignment before Judge Alan Black on November 5, 2025.
