St. Tammany Parish Grand Jury Returns Indictment in Rape Case

October 28, 2025

District Attorney Collin Sims reports that on October 22, 2025, a St. Tammany Parish grand jury indicted 58-year-old Michael Day of Vancleave, Mississippi, on charges of First degree rape of a child under the age of thirteen and Failure to register as a convicted sex offender.   The alleged offenses occurred between February 1, 2024 and April 21, 2024.  Detective Katie Ragan with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office headed the investigation.  Assistant District Attorney Ysonde Boland, Chief of the Special Victims Unit of the District Attorney’s Office, presented the case to the grand jury. Day is set for arraignment before Judge Richard Swartz on November 17, 2025.
